The quick answer to your question, is that an ESL teacher is any person who teaches 'English as a Second Language.' Some people get confused with the term ESL. If English is not your fist language, but you are learning it now, you are studying English as a Second Language -- or ESL. ESL teachers come from all over the world and usually a person who teachers ESL is from another country that speaks English as a main language, for example Canada.
